GIS Integration in Context based Mobile Application for Promotional Short Messaging Service (SMS)

Mobile-messaging technology is evolving rapidly to provide multiple services and applications for Mobile subscribers. Mobile marketing and advertising applications deliver promotional information to consumers, based on their preferences and location. This paper examines the use of Promotionmessage in Product Advertising. In this paper, we present a context based location sensitive mobile application for promotion messages with the integration of GIS. Context based application is developed in WML emulator and deployed in the SIM card of mobile subscriber to reduce the load of device while GIS map is developed on J2ME emulator and deployed on user’s mobile. GPS receiver is integrated at server end to trace the coordinates and helps to create GIS map for advertising location.
